The Golden Temple (Shri Harimandir Sahib)

Everyone, irrespective of creed, race or cast can seek spiritual comfort and religious fulfillment without any issues. The place is an experience rather than of description. The Golden Temple has a unique Sikh architecture and teaches a lesson of humility and equality. The four entrances to this holy place from all the four directions depicts that people belonging to every walk of life are welcome. It is the best tourist destination to visit in Amritsar.

Wagah Border
It's an International border between India and Pakistan and an army outpost on the Indo-Pak border between Amritsar and Lahore. The best part is the evening's Beating Retreat ceremony. Soldiers from both the countries march in perfect drill going through the steps of bringing down their individual national flags. Before the sunset, nationalistic zeal rises and lights are switched on representing the end of the day amidst thunderous applause. It is a must-visit destination for every tourist visiting the city of Amritsar.

Jallianwala bagh
Jallianwala bagh is a memorial site commemorating 2000 Indians who were killed and wounded by the Britishers under the command of Gen Michael O Dyer April 13, 1919. This 6.5-acre garden site is located in the environs of Golden Temple complex. This memorial is maintained by the Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial Trust, which was established as the act by the Government of India in 1951. It is one of the prominent places of Amritsar to visit.

Ram Bagh garden
Located in the north of Amritsar, Ram Bagh Garden memorizes the spiritual capital of first Sikh Ruler Maharaja Ranjit Singh. In 1799, Maharaja took Lahore and made it his capital in 1802. In 1818, he got Ram Bagh Garden constructed after the name of the fourth Sikh Guru, Guru Ram Das. The original cost of construction of this garden was 1 Lac 25 thousand Nanak Shahi Rupees. Ram Bagh Garden is spread over an area of 84 acres with exceptional plants, trees and flowers. It has 14 feet high boundary wall with a small burj at each corner of the garden.

Samadhi of Guru Angad Dev Ji
Around 30 km away from Amritsar, there is a Samadhi of the second Sikh Guru, Guru Angad Dev Ji. It was built in 1815 AD by Maharaja Ranjit Singh. It is must visit tourist attraction and one can reach here easily by road.

Durgiana Mandir
The city of Amritsar also has a wonderful temple dedicated to the Hindu goddess Durga. The Durgiana Temple offers puja to deities of Lakshmi and Narayana. The temple lies in the middle of a medium sized lake thus giving a charming view. It has a massive structure, built in the style of the nearby Golden Temple. This is one among the amazing tourist places, one should not miss visiting.

Shaheedi Bohr (The Historical Banyan Tree)
This historical tree with huge girth and lush green canopy stands royally in the Namdhari Shaheedi Smarak against the backdrop of Ram Bagh garden. Four Kookas were hanged on this particular tree by the British Government in 1871. They were hanged because of their violent reaction against the hawking of beef around the Golden Temple.
