Taj Mahal

Agra Fort

You would regret if you miss Agra Fort during your trip to Agra. Located 2.2 km North West of Taj Mahal, Agra Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fortress covers an area of 380,000 sq meters and comprises of many palaces: Khas Mahal, Jahangir Palace and so on. Surrounded by 70 feet high walls, The Agra fort is also known as a walled city. Itimad-ud-Daulah's Tomb

Country's first tomb made completely out of marble, Itmad-Ud-Daulah was built by Nur Jahan, wife of the Mughal Emperor Jahangir. It was constructed in the memory of her father Mirza Ghiyas. Influenced by Islamic architecture, the monument's towers exhibit Persian touch. The wall paintings present inside are very beautiful. The main chamber of the tomb is ornamented with semi-precious stones and mosaics that are studded in white marble, which were brought from Rajasthan.

Mehtab Bagh

Mehtab Bagh, meaning 'Moonlight Garden' lies on the banks of river Yamuna opposite to the magnificent Taj Mahal. This 25-acre bagh is one of the most beautiful gardens of the city. The garden complex is square in shape, measuring 300 by 300 meters and is flawlessly aligned with the Taj Mahal on the opposite bank. Guru Ka Tal

It's a gurudwara dedicated to the ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The gurudwara was built at the location where Guru Tegh Bahadur surrendered to Aurangzeb and laid down his arms. It was built in 1610, featuring 12 towers in the Tal, out of which only 8 towers exist. Initially, the Tal was a reservoir and was used for irrigation purposes during the dry season. The reservoir was decorated with stone carvings when the gurudwara was constructed. This site attracts thousands of visitors, both Indian and Foreigners every year.

Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary

Also known as Keetham Lake, Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary was established in 1991. The sanctuary is spread over an area of 7.97 sq km, comprising a large lake covering an area of 2.25 sq km. The lake is a retreat for many migratory and residential birds. The area provides shelter to more than 165 bird species. The entire lake is covered with macrophytic vegetation during the summer season and supports wide range of avifauna during winters. Purple heron, paddy bird, grey heron and many other aquatic birds can be spotted here. This is one among the amazing tourist places one should not miss visiting. fatehpur sikri

Located in Fatehpur Sikri, Buland Darwaza is also known as the 'Gate of Magnificence'. This striking gateway was built by Akbar, after defeating the king of Khandesh in 1573. This gateway was built in red sandstone, is 40 meters high and can be seen from far. The decorations of the gateway are done in white marble, thus reflecting distinctive elements of Mughal architecture. It also serves as the chief entrance to the mosque, Jama Masjid.

Panch Mahal

Panch Mahal, a picturesque 5 storey monument found inside the Fatehpur Sikri Fort Complex, was built by Akbar for his queens and the other ladies of the court. Also known as 'badgir', Panch Mahal has 5 pavilions, each connected to the next floor via red stone stairs. The pavilion present on the ground floor has 84 columns supporting the floor above. The size of the pavilions and the number of pillars supporting the upper floor decreases, on climbing up the Panch Mahal. The top floor consists of a single dome with floral motifs on top. Situated about 40 km from Agra, Panch Mahal can be easily reached by a cab within 2 hours.

Bharatpur

The city is well known for the Keoladeo Bird Sanctuary, where you can find rarest species of birds. It is a beautiful bird sanctuary named after the Keoladeo temple located in its area.
