Dewri Mandir

Dewri Mandir is dedicated to Solha Bhuji Goddess, an avatar of Goddess Durga. The temple is located in the outskirts of the main city of Ranchi and is spread over 2 acres of land. It is believed to be the only temple where 6 tribal priests, called as Pahans, perform the rituals and offered prayers alongside the Brahmin priests. So, soak yourself in the spiritually uplifting aura here.

Ranchi Lake

This man-made lake was constructed at the base of the looming Ranchi hill. The water of the lake is very calm and clean and it also is a good spot for bird watching. You can spot at least 15 different varieties of water birds if you spend a good amount of time by the lake. The lake is quite huge and covers around 52 acres of area. Boating is the favorite recreational activity here. Sunrise and sunsets are quite spectacular from this spot.

Birsa Zoological Park

Birsa Zoological Park is considered as the most beautiful and the best zoos in the country. Spanning an area of 104 hectares of uneven land, the zoo is a great home to wild animals. It is located in the outskirts of the city about 16 km from the center. The park is divided into two sections by National Highway. The larger area acts as home for wild animals in specific and the smaller area is pure botanical section. Lion, tiger, hyena, fox, wild cats, barking deer and elephants are some of the animals found in the zoo. The artificial lake in the zoo has boating facilities too.

Dassam Falls

Dassam Falls, located 34 km from Ranchi is another famous waterfall in the Ranchi region. The fall actually splits into 10 streams, and hence the name 'dassam'. The River Kanchi falls from a height of 144 feet to create this cascading length of natural, unhurt beauty. Though, it is usually the common practice to splash around the water falls in Ranchi but Dassam Falls are mostly fast and not suited for bathing.

Jagannath temple

It's a 17th-century temple built by Ani Nath Shahdeo. This temple architecture is similar to the Jagannath temple in Puri. Similar to Rath Yatra in Puri, a huge fair and procession are held every year here during the month of June-July. At this time, devotees come in large numbers to visit the temple. The temple is built on a hilltop and visitors have to climb several stairs to reach the top.

Sun Temple
