3. Amer Fort

Amer Fort or Amber Fort is a grand fortress, located 10km outside the Pink City. Constructed by Raja Man Singh in 1592, Amer Fort is the most famed fort and the oldest structure in Rajasthan. 4. Birla Temple

Dedicated to the Hindu Lord Vishnu, Birla Temple is also known as Laxmi Narayan Mandir and is another attraction for the devotees visiting Jaipur. The temple was built by BM Birla Foundation in 1988. This huge temple made in white marble and placed in the heart of the city is an architectural marvel known for its delicate carvings.

It is a collection of nineteen architectural astronomical instruments built by Sawai Jai Singh, the Rajput king. Each instrument is built from marble, local stone and carries an astronomical scale generally marked on the inner lining of the marble. Though these instruments are fixed on the ground but you can observe various astronomical positions with a naked eye.

The “Samrat Yantra” is the world’s largest sundial present here. Thus, the brilliant architectural, cosmological and astronomical concepts of the king made Jantar Mantar a truly astronomical heritage of the city.

6. City Palace

Once the home of the Maharajas, the City Palace was built in 1729-1732. It is actually a mix of Shilpa Shastra of India with European and Mughal architectural style. City Palace has a number of structures like Chandra Mahal, Pitam Niwas Chowk, Maharani Palace, Diwan-I-Khas, Mubarak Mahal, Diwan-I-Aam and Govind Dev Ji temple.

The complex has three entry gates and only the bottom floor of the Chandra Mahal is open to visitors. The other 6 floors are still occupied by the Descendents of the Maharaja.
