Nashik is a holy city in Maharashtra. It is well-known for its connections to the epic saga of "Ramayana". Nearby, Lord Rama was believed to have bathed at Ram Kund water pond. Shri Kalaram Sansthan Mandir is an ancient shrine to Rama, while Rama and Sita are said to have worshipped at Sita Gufaa caves. Nashik plays host to the famous Kumbh Mela every 12 years. The city is home to plenty of exotic temples and is known in Hindu mythology as the place where Ravana's sister, Surpanakha, tried to seduce Lord Ram and got her nose cut off by Lakshman in the process.

Places to visit in Nashik

There are lots of interesting places in Nashik which fascinates the people and tourist like:

Dudhsagar falls
Regarded as one of the best falls in the view, Dhudsagar falls offer a panoramic view with a spectacular scenery. The cascade is in full verve during the monsoon season and quiets a sight to behold.

Sula Vineyard
The Sula Vineyards is a famous winery that is located in Nashik, 180 kilometres to the northeast of Mumbai and is renowned for its varieties of grape wines, such as Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Zinfandel. The vineyard is an ideal getaway for people who wish to spend their weekend or day off in leisure, away from the din of the city. The ambience and surroundings of the place are such that visitors do not even realise that they are actually in India, and the scenic views transform them into another world altogether.

Sita Gufa
Near Panchvati is the Sita Gufa, said to be the spot from where Sita was kidnapped by Ravana. A narrow staircase leads to the caves. The caves house idols of Lord Ram, Sita and Lakshman as well as a Shivling, said to be the one Sita worshipped

Saptashrungi
Saptashrungi is a hill range situated 60 km from Nashik and forms a part of the Sahyadri range. It is a blend of the Sanskrit words 'sapta' which means seven and 'shrung' which means peak. These majestic hills have amongst them 108 bodies of water which are called kundas, which greatly add to the beauty of the hills. As the imposing image of Devi stands 8 feet tall in all its glory, it also instils in her devotee, a sense of peace and tranquillity. The mother god nurtures her devotees and makes them feel safe and sound in her home. Entering shrine makes one feel like the holy goddess is looking at them and enlightening them of all sorrows, grievances, stresses and discomfort.

Panchvati
Holy land for the believers of Ramayana, Panchvati attracts a lot of pilgrims. A serene town located near Nasik, the site offers small sightings having a lot of significance in the epic of Ramayana. Given the legend of Panchvati, the place holds a lot of religious significance even in the present day. Sites such as the Kalaram Temple and the Sita Gufaa are on every pilgrim's list. The Kumbh Mela takes place on the river banks of Godavari and has a surplus of pilgrims from every corner of the world during the occasion.

Trimbakeshwar
Counted as the holiest temple of India, the Trimbakeshwar Temple houses one of the most important twelve Jyotirlingas, a form of Lord Shiva. Perched on the foot of Brahmagiri Hills, the temple is situated in the pious city of Trimbak, which finds its mention in the powerful Mrityunjaya Mantra that bestows immortality and longevity. Built in the 18th century by Maratha ruler, Peshwa Nana Saheb, the temple is a perfect epitome of classic architecture.
